Banff NP Icefields Sunrise Photography Workshop.

The Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park is a stunning drive and offers many irresistible photography stops. This workshop gives you the opportunity to learn new skills and develop your current abilities while surrounded by stunning mountains, lakes and rivers in Banff National Park. Class sizes are limited to four people to give everyone lots of one-on-one time and prevent crowding. We will meet during blue hour at our location for a quick meet and greet prior to setting up gear and compositions. We will shoot golden hour, sunrise and into early morning light (if conditions keep dazzling us, we may continue past the two hour mark).

Participants will be emailed a few days before the workshop date with location updates based on weather. The furtherest location choice will be Waterfowl Lakes.

This workshop is great for beginner to intermediate photographers. If you're new to landscape photography or you would like to get more practice working in full manual mode and gaining more control over what you can do with your camera, there will be lots to learn during the session.

Topics Covered:

Exposure triangle: choosing appropriate ISO, aperture and shutter speed for the image you want to achieve
Composition
Long Exposures
How to use filters (if participants bring them)
Focus Stacking
Creativity
Understanding Light

What to Bring:

DSLR or Mirrorless camera
Variety of lenses: Wide angles are great for landscape, 24-70 range, etc. Zoom lenses if you'd like to work on detail shots.
Sturdy tripod
Filters are recommended but not necessary
A remote trigger, intervalometer or timer for your camera
Warm layers
Warm drinks and snacks
Hand warmers/toe warmers
Headlamp
Extra batteries

Not Included in the Workshop:

Transportation to and from Banff/shooting locations
Travel Insurance
Park Pass

Monika is fully insured and liscened to teach in Banff National Park.

Registration is non-refundable but is transferrable. If you can find someone to take your spot and buy your ticket from you, this is acceptable. Email monika@deviantoptiks.com to confirm a transfer.

Workshops will run in all weather conditions and will only be cancelled or rescheduled if extreme weather warnings are issued or it is unsafe for the instructor to reach the workshop location.
